Personal project in tribute to the reggae/sound system culture

This project combines two of my passions : art and music.

My goal is to draw a portrait of artists from the reggae scene that I can see live, in order to offer them a copy of the drawing and keep the original signed. All the portraits were drawn with a black pen (in dotpoint) to create a timeless and authentic esthetic.

This projects appears as a testimony and a photography of a (tiny) part of the current reggae scene and active on stage between 2014 and 2018. The artists I had the chance to meet represent a wide part of the many sides of the reggae and sound-system culture.

The portaits are a mix of the old and new generations of artists, some are internationally famous, some have marked the history of reggae, others are new sound-systems breaking through with totally different styles.

The project started by chance at the end of 2014 when I was lucky enough to meet more than 30 artists from totally different universes. I could meet producers from France, Spain, Hungary, Scotland, and jamaican legends, english sound-system pioneers, english and french wicked MC's and a lot of passionated people.
